The Wonderful Story of How Neptune was Discovered
One of the best explanations…thanx One thing that I do find confusing… the t-shirt :) I don’t like this because of risk of extra contamination on the surface of the lens… T-shirt can be ‘fuzz’ generators lol
2:00 minutes in, "You have to use a 2" filter for this camera." Now you tell me! LOL! I kinda like the circular frame to my images. Round Telescopes, Square sensors. What is wrong with this picture? So now I need addional filter wheels and filters. Smooth move ZWO. Sells equipment. Not laughing anymore.
2 years late, but I agree, I must talk to myself or I’ll screw something up lol! Great video!
Is it possible to replace the dovetail rail with a longer one, so that a weight would not be required to balance the scope?
Sorry I watch this later.
If you are shooting all night long, just use an electronic focuser ;)
you need a good tracking mount first. something like the Celestron AVX for around $500 used or $1,000 new.
Very nice!
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question: if I use a filter meant for emission nebulae on non-emission targets, such as galaxies, will there be any loss of data or natural color in the final image (when using a OSC)?
I assume that you mean Multi Narrowband Filters when you say 'for emission nebulae'. Most galaxies have a very broad specrtum, meaning a narrowband filter will cut most of the natural color. I previously used the Optolong L-Extreme on Andromeda Galaxy, to extract Hydrogen, augmenting my existing RGB data. Every galaxy will benefit from extra narrowband data, but on its own it can be quite underwhelming
It's awesome ❤
As you demonstrate, one can get good images of galaxies with a small scope. I’ve done so with my WO Redcat 61 (300mm) combined with the ZWO ASI533mc and got a good image of the Pinwheel galaxy last year that clearly revealed the supernova that was discovered in late May. Also, although you didn’t elaborate, I think you said you used sheets of paper to help get the proper exposure when creating calibration frames with your gear. If I am interpreting this correctly, I think that means for your flats, you put a few sheets of paper between the light pad and the end of your scope to adjust the too-bright light from the pad. If I’ve got this correct, that’s exactly what I do because the lowest illumination from my pad is too bright for the exposure length I want for my flats. I am after a minimum of two seconds of exposure for my flats and prefer something between three and four seconds.
You don't need to level anything if you use an equatorial mount
What is a good offset and gain?
Great video and amazing results I also did the pinwheel but with a 714mm and I also loved the the smaller Galaxies in the background
superb vid good sir , im currently using Nikon Z6 Dslr and Sigma 150-600mm lens on a HEQ5 pro mount and running nina i live in the UK in a bortle 4 zone what would you recommend filter wise (low cost if poss) i think clip in filters are a thing or something else ? many thanks Tim :)
I've taken a look through my usual online astronomy shops. There is the Optolong L-Pro, which would fit your Bortle 4 perfectly, since it's not that strong. It also comes in a clip version for Nikon Z DSLRs. I don't know how low budget is low budget for you, but I can only recommend that one
@@AstroAddict huge thanks for your reply Tim would you be so kind to point me in the right direction of shops , ive searched all over but doesnt seem to be much available or im just looking in the wrong places haha i only see clip-ins for canon but not nikon 🤔 and thanks for the heads up on the filter to choose youre a star 👍

@@AstroAddict 🙏👌
Nice.
Sehr schön.Toll gemacht
Welcome back friend!!!! Just my 2 cents you don’t need to level that precise your tripod, just the smartphone level is enough
I see, but I do it for the fast polar alignment. That usually only takes 2 minutes if the tripod is level. Adjusting the azimuth takes most of those 2 minutes
Hi, why you can't use the ASI2600MC duo with a large telescope? I use it with my RC8
My 'large' telescope is a 102/714 refractor. The problem is that the field flattener has a M42 adapter, which is not enough to illuminate the guiding sensor. M48 minimum
@@AstroAddict Ok !
Nice work. Beautiful final image. With that focal length my I suggest M81 & M82. I dud them with tge 250mm of tge Redcat 51.......👌👌👌👌
Thanks for the tip!
Nice video! I am still waiting for the mount to return from repair and will give the first light to my 2600 MC DUO as well 😜
Good luck!
Glad to see you back!
Great Video Tim! I like wide field images of Galaxies. Thanks!
Nice Image Tim, I actually quite like wide field images of galaxies, it amazes me just how many galaxies in the fov can be captured with even a small scope like a Red Cat 51, which funnily enough I also used on April 10 to image M101.
excellent Finale'
Nice shot! The wide field scope is actually perfect for Markarian's chain :)
That's a great idea! Now I only need to find a better place than my backyard
Nice to see you back.
I love a wide field Galaxy image. Lets the viewer feel the vastness of space. Nice image, Tim. Thanks for taking time from your studies to put together a video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Tim! Love the kit! 👍
Nice choice of music.
Nice.
Brilliant video as always :)
HI, as always love your videos. What antenna did you buy?
Thanks for the heads up, I just added it to the description
@@AstroAddict Hi, just looked at the antenna link and it looks wrong tome - it is without the pin inside but when I look on my ASI AirPlus, I do have a pin at antenna. Or did I miss something?
Ah yes, indeed. I did not link the exact one since that link was for the german amazon. I corrected the link now.
Thank you! Just got autoguiding working and thought it wouldn't hurt to try this dithering stuff out right away:)
how would you compare the 2600MC Pro with the 294MC Pro - especially for larger (130mm f5.6-7 APO) - I'm concerned about oversampling with smaller pixels!
You can check if your system is oversampling with the Bintel Astronomy Calculator, that's what I always use when researching new equipment
I setup my Heq5 pro for the first time today and I noticed that when I looked through the polar scope the red light that lights up the polar scope was drowning out Polaris and I couldn't see it unless I turned the power off because the red light was too bright. Is that how it is done or is there a setting to dim the red light so I can see Polaris with the red light on? Thanks in advance.
You can dim the LED in the polar scope in the hand controller settings
@@AstroAddictI honestly wasn’t expecting you to answer being that the video has been out for a while. Thank you for helping out, the video is great!!
Clear skies Tim, make it easy and fun!
Welcome back! Congrats to your degree and this nice video! Looking forward for more astro-vlogs :)
Has got the same package yesterday 🤡 The package of QHY268m was better.🤷♂️
Nice to see you back Tim. Best. Damien
Fancy.
Congrats on obtaining your degree, Tim, and may I say, you've got some fancy B-roll there. ;-)
Yeah, congratulations from me too. Seeing the disclaimer, I assume you've had to write (or fight) way too much LaTeX in the last few months... 😂 If so: I feel for you.
More write than fight, but yeah....
Als ich die Justierung sah wurde ich sehr froh das ich ein newton mit seichten okularauazug habe.
3:00 your warranty CANNOT be voided in the US unless it is proven ehat you did caused the damage. If you remove the primary and the glue or coating on the secondary fails you are still meant to be covered. I honestly prefer building my own equipment.
1:38 modt of it is global optics which is based in Taiwan im pretty sure, they sell the mirrors incase you want to vuild your own RC.
Will you please provide an interconnection block diagram of Method 2. Thank you
Very good... I will get there one day,,, Not Andromeda but to Photoshop.
Thanks Tim, very well done
Now that's a nice end transition!!! 😂
